Wisdom Teeth...?

one of my 17 year old daughter got all 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled out today. all 4 spots have stitches and she's in a lot of pain. She has ice and pain killers, but her mouth is still extremely sore. I told her it would take time to heal, but anybody have any ideas on how to soothe the pain?

Wisdom Teeth...?
It sounds like you're doing exactly what you should be doing. Ice and pain killers are the only thing that helped me. For the first day or two, I thought I was gonna die of pain. It subsides, though. She should try not to get up and down much and keep air out of her mouth to avoid dry socket (which is worse).
Reply:I had tylenol laced with kodene. Then my mom took a pillow case and cut it into a long strip. She padded it with ice and tied it up around my head. and i rented 3 movies a day and sat with ice and ate only dairy queen vanilla soft serve.
Reply:OUCH! I had 2 of mine pulled last winter and painkillers worked for me. obviously, her mouth should be sore for at least the first 2 days. i know my mom gave me applesauce mashed potatoes and hot soup while i was recovering.

also be careful with the pills, you don't want her addicted!
Reply:Just place your hand on her chin and pray for her in Jesus name and command that pain to go and she will be relieved for good.
Reply:the doctor gave me pain killers and that made everything super.. she wont be able to eat solids for a few days though.. soup and jello it is!
Reply:maybe she needs better pain meds? i had all 4 of mine out at the same time and hardly had any pain. maybe she got an infection if it's really that bad?
Reply:My mom (dentist) always told me to be careful with who I pick to pull my wisom teeth out becaue sometimes they can get air pockets inside the incision and cause a lot of pain. When that happens, the patient has to go back the the dentist has to re stitch it or something like that, I wasn't fully listening when she told me all this... when I should have! But it could just be from surgery. If the pain killers aren't working, I would call her dentist tomorrow and tell him about it and see if he/she can prescribe something stronger for her so she wont be in so much pain. Sorry! hope she feels better soon.
Reply:my husband, 24, just had his removed a week ago and thats all that could really be done, just take the medication and apply the ice. it will subside in a few days.
