My Gums are KILLING me %26amp; my Jaw is so sore!! I just KNOW this is a tell tell sign of my wisdom teeth trying to push through but they are impacted.
My Question is... How BAD does it really Hurt?? Do they put you to sleep? Do you see a lot of Blood Afterwards(blood makes me vomit)? Will I need someone take care of me (live alone, 2 hours away from family)?
Wisdom Teeth...?
Removing Wisdom teeth is kind of an ordeal and you'd need someone to go with you. Yes, they usually put you under, I had 1 tooth half way grown in and causing me pain, I was pregnant so they just really deadened it and believe me, removing the others while I was under was sooooo much better. You wake up and they're gone and with medication you'll be fine. Some people swell, I didn't, so it's different for everyone. Get it checked out and take a good friend and you'll be fine!
Reply:hi, I just had two impacted wisdom teeth removed and I go to college 4 hours away from home. I had the same symptoms and had to get them removed (they were also impacted). In terms of pain, the pain wasn't bad at all, which was surprising since I expected something worse. My doctor put me under IV sedation so I was asleep during the whole operation and it was all done with before I knew it. They will also give you some painkillers so pain shouldn't be a real issue. Swelling is also to be expected and you may look like buzz lightyear for awhile. I had no swelling for some reason. You will see blood after but you have to change the gauze every 20-30 minutes to stop the bleeding. Oh and your breath will smell like rotten flesh for a few days but overall, I am glad I got them removed after the pain they were causing me.
Reply:got mine out a year ago, you can either go to a hospital and get completely knocked out or get it done at the dentist office and get dazed.
I just got dazed, my body went tingly and everyone was muffled. During the procedure i could feel pain, but i wasn't really thinking about it. After wards you feel pain but as long as you keep drugged up on the pain meds you should be alright.
During the next few days after the procedure yes you see alot of blood. and taste alot. You have to have these gauze things in the back of your mouth and they soak up the blood but you have to change them every few hours becuase they get really damp with spit and blood.
My mom took care of me, she changed the gauze, it made it much easier! I wanted to sleep alot too, i think its a way that your body helps heal itself.
But i just want to let you know that for whatever reason (i think it had to do with what they knocked me out with) the day i got them taken out i felt really nauseus later on and i REALLY wanted to puke..it was so hard to resist. They made me shove this pill up my anus and it did ABSOLUTELY nothing!!! I just crapped it out a few minutes later and ended up throwing up anyways a little...it was traumatizing!!!
So don't take the anus pill!! hahah..
You'll need alot of ice to keep the cheek swelling down too. But you should recover completely in like 4 days..
Reply:I had all 4 removed at once, but I was one of those lucky people and it was a breeze! But mine were pretty much out and were not impacted.
I was put under by IV for the procedure.
once I woke up, I had NO pain and none the next day or ever!
But there was blood, unfortunately.
You will have to replace the gauze every few hours and it's gross.
If they put you under, the anesthetic will make you drowsy and very nauseated. You also cannot drive afterwords, so someone will have to take you home. And it's recommended you have someone with you for the first 24hrs after the procedure in case of complications.
Good Luck, you'll be fine!
Reply:Having your wisdom teeth taken out is always the smart thing to do. You can get put to sleep but you will need someone there to drive you home because they will not allow you to drive after being sedated. You will be pretty out of it after waking up and you will probably sleep the rest of the day. It is painful after the numbing wears off but they will give you pain meds. Follow all the instructions that they give you and you will be fine. Good Luck!
