i'm getting my wisdom teeth in and they are just starting to break the skin and it hurts like CRAZY! what can i do! its driving me nuts! what kind of medicine should i take? would tylenol be ok?
Wisdom teeth!!!?
You can take whatever pain reliever you see fit like Tylenol or ibuprofen, but you can also go and get some Orajel, its a gel that you apply to the area in your mouth where the pain is and it numbs it so you wont feel a thing, depending on what kind you get you might have to apply it frequently though especially if you eat or drink anything as it wears away....but it should work alot better
Reply:asprin is just fine i know that they hurt but you have to go with it
Reply:Tylenol should help, but unless you have enough room for them, which most people dont, you should have them pulled cause they will push all your other teeth together and make them crooked. I am 30 and mine just got pulled a few months ago. It sucks, but at least its done now, and my teeth are fine now. Good luck.
Reply:Crushed ice would help.
Motrin or Tylenol should help.
There are over-the-counter gels for teething children that will take the pain away for short periods of time.
Reply:i found they would periodically hurt. they will be sore for a couple of days and then it would stop. for me, this happened over a 5 year period. eventually i had to get them taken out because they became infected. i wouldn't suggest running to the dentist because not everyone needs to have them taken out, but they will always tell you to take them out. my husband is 30, he used to get the same periodic pain and now they are fully in and he never had to have them taken out. i had all 4 taken out and it cost us $1,600!
if you find they begin to hurt and the pain keeps getting worse and worse over a week, go see someone! besides that just take some Advil or ibuprofen and in a couple days it should get better.
hope this helps
p.s they wont necessarily push all your teeth together!!! it all depends on what angle they are coming in!
Reply:Yeah i know how much it hurts, i went through that not too long ago, for some reason, the pain happened on two separate periods of time. anyway, their still not done growing, but i've learned to cope with it, my dentist said i had to get them removed soon, because it pushes my teeth in a way that their crooked, so that's kinda scary. When the pain gets excrutiating, try a mild/regular aspirin (not tylenol, nor advil) just a regular aspiring, and place it where the tooth is growing, then push it down with ur teeth as if you were going to chew it, then hold it down with your teeth and the pain will go away, temporarily, it actually numbs the pain. it works great.. no actual pain releaver helps it quicker. Actually all pain releavers are temporary, but this one works faster.
I also agree with drjanders, she's right, it takes a long time for them to completely grow... they hurt for periods of time, then other times the pain stops.. recently i have not gone through any pain, but i doubt their done growing.
Reply:You can check up with your dentist abou it. My big cousin is getting her wisdom teeth out. A really good medicine to take is Vicotin. I dont know if ylenol would work. :-)
Reply:rinse your mouth with warm salt water; keep moist heat pad to affected side. Taken Motrin/Advil 600mg (3 pills) every 6 hours. Call for an appointment with an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in your area ASAP.
Take Tylenol if you have a fever.
If difficulty swallowing or breathing, go to ER
Reply:your're going to have to get them pulled.
Reply:Ah! I am getting my wisdom teeth removed soon...
Reply:i think tylenol will be fine. when my wisdom teeth came in i just chewed most of my food with them so that my mouth could get used to it(it might hurt more but try it!!!)
