Wisdom Teeth?

Last weds I had my wisdom teeth removed. Then on monday I went back and had some of the gauze removed from my mouth. Today I started having pains in my mouth. They were really bad but I've been washing my mouth with salt water and its helped alot but I still have a little bit of pain. Is there anything else I can do?

Reply:Call your denist and first make sure that your pain is to be expected. Then ask his/her advice about the pain.

Reply:Take Tylenol, Advil or Motrin. You can ask the dentist for a perscription to Motrin 600 or 800, Ultram, Darvocet or other pain reliever. Avoid Vicodin as it's HIGHLY addictive, even as well as it works. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled in one day; 3 of the 4 were impacted with infection. I was extremely lucky %26amp; didn't have the facial swelling like other people get.
Reply:When i got my wisdom teeth pulled out nothing worked for me, until i tried Advil, it worked pretty good. Good Luck I know they hurt a lot, at least it did for me.
Reply:Just keep your teeth clean, continue to use salt and water, take vicodin...it helps.
Reply:Use the mouthwash BIOTENE. It helps eases the pain, its the best for the "sensitive" nerves back there still open and healing. It is gently and cleans. WAY better than Listorine.
Reply:Depending on how long the tooth was ( in your gums) you might experiance pain. My wisdom teeth were very long and they had the literally cut them out instead of pull them. If they were cut out then yes expect pain. If they were pulled, there should be soreness but not pains. If your dentist in a good one he would of told you all of this information.
Reply:You could be developing a "dry socket" which means that the blood clot inside the socket has broken down exposing the jaw bone. The clot is necessary for normal healing to occur. It would be best to revisit your dentist because the socket may need to be repacked with a special type of gauze that will alleviate the pain while allowing new tissue to form in the socket, covering the denuded bone.
Reply:800mg motrin helped my husband better than loratabs but it could be your 1st and 2nd molars repositioning now that there is more room in your mouth for them.
Reply:Oh my gosh this is my story too! I had them out last Thurs and now I get this horrible, throbbing pain that comes and goes and it gets pretty bad.


I talked to a nurse and she said it didn't seem to be an infection so to use warm compresses, salt water rinsing, and a pain reliever (I have been using 2 Advils at a time-works okay but not great).


I can truly say I feel your pain!!
