My wisdom teeth are fully grown in now, but they bother me every once in awhile. Should I get them pulled? Or is it too late? My dentist didn't want to pull them when they were growing even though they hurt like crazy.
Wisdom Teeth?
If the pain isn't terrible, I would leave them in. Otherwise, you might consider having them pulled.
However, pulling wisdom teeth isn't easy. Unlike most teeth, wisdom teeth have very long roots and usually must be cut from your gums.
They would put you under a general anestesia, cut them out, give you some pain killers, and send you home. It takes about 4 days to recover.
Thanks for asking, and I hope this helps!
Reply:Mine were pulled when I was 16, but they were bone impacted and would've messed up my teeth (I had braces) so I needed them out as soon as possible.
I'm not a dentist but I don't see the harm in removing them. If they don't hurt you at all, then I guess you could leave them but since they do...just take them out. It's not too late.
Reply:Get them pulled. If your dentist won't do it, get a second opinion from another dentist. You don't need them and if they're causing you discomfort you should have them removed.
Reply:if they bother you defiantly have them removed. they are the most likely teeth to get a cavity in since they are so far back, and they are harder to keep clean. also the can cause crowding and make look crooked. i work in an orthodontist office and we always recommend removal.
Reply:I think if they bother you that much you should see a different dentist for this situation. I don't think that wisdom teeth are required. I had mine removed and am much more comfortable.
