Wisdom teeth?

I am getting my 2 bottom wisdom teeth pulled out thursday, i'm not being put to sleep they are just numbing it. I'm pretty worried about the pain but I'm sure it will be fine. Can anyone let me know what you went through and how bad it really was? Also what type of pain medication did your dentist prescribe?

Wisdom teeth?
If they are numbing you, you won't feel any pain. You'll just feel tugging and pressure. It really isn't as bad as people tell you. Then hard part is just being diligent in taking very good care of the insisions. Keep them clean. Rinse with salt water several times a day. Don't over do it for 2 days and don't talk to much. The more you rest early on, the quicker you'll feel fine. Good luck! :)
Reply:I've had my wisdom teeth yanked and it wasn't that big a deal. If I had any pain at all, I popped an Advil. The worst thing about it was the awful taste in my mouth that lasted about two days. You'll be fine.
Reply:I had mine pulled out too.I felt a bit numb for a few hours and then it was alright. If you don't feel ok perhaps you should go back to your dentist for advice.
Reply:I had both my wisdom teeth pulled out together a few yrs ago, they didnt put me to sleep, just gave me injections.

They had to cut them both out cause they were not able to come through. The worst part of the hole procedure was the injections, Im very sensitive to pain because of a condition I have (fibromyalgia), but when they were cutting and pulling the teeth out i didnt feel a thing. Afterwards my face was all puffy and swollen for awhile, and it took awhile before the feeling come back, it did ache a bit and i had trouble eating for about a week but not everyone is like that, Iv knowen other people who have had theirs out and have been back to normal within a day or so. It would be a good idea to get a family member or a friend to come with you so they can drive you home afterwards incase you dont feel upto driving, if your dentist hasnt told you this you should still consider it.

I took paradex after as it can help settle you tummy a bit but you can only get this tablet with a prescription(i live in new zealand so I dont really know what is available overseas).

dont stress tomuch over it, the sooner it is done the better. then you never have to worry about it.

good luck and i hope this helps :-)
Reply:The needle is what hurts the most in my opinion. But, its not as bad as a lot of people say. Its like the needle they use to numb for cavities. I had the shot and local anesthetic so I wasn't awake when they actually pulled them but I'm sure you won't feel anything. Most people start feeling pain a few hours after the removal but the Doc should give you something like Tylenol 3 or something stronger. The worst part is having the nasty taste of gauze in your mouth for a few days and not being able to eat real food. After you eat, make sure to gargle with warm salt water and it will make you feel a whole lot better! If you are truly miserable, buy some Anbesol (teeth and gum number). If you keep occupied you won't notice the pain as much. Good Luck!
