Ok I have already made something like this but as I read more answers to others peoples quistions I am getting worried. I am getting my wisdom teeth out soon like in 2 weeks and need some convidence, advice, how bad it hurts, and info. I am younger than 16 if that helps. I just really need some help I worry a lot my mom said it would be fine but I am still a little scared.
Wisdom teeth?
I got mine out yesterday.
It's not too bad. At my oral surgeon's office, they did a quick exam of my teeth with my mom. Next, they offered nitrous oxide (laughing gas) if I wanted it. Then they put me under general anesthesia through an IV (it hurt about as much as someone pinching your skin). When I woke up, I was still wondering when they were going to put me to sleep.
They packed my gums with gauze and put Novocaine in my mouth (numbs the jaw), so I couldn't talk for a while afterwards, just make odd grunting sounds. My brother got really sick afterwards because of the anesthesia. Get the most accurate body weight that you can then subtract five pounds to put on your sheet. (Weight determines how much they give to you.) Be sure to bring a bucket and some paper towels, though, just in case you feel the need to vomit. Also, be sure that you get your mom's help in getting to and out of the car, because you'll stumble like a drunk.
You'll forget how hungry you were before the surgery afterwards, because you won't feel like eating. However, you have to eat something so you can take your pain medicine. Ask your mom to stock up on pure liquid soups like tomato and cream of whatever. The Soup in Hand type things are a good choice. When heating it up, though, just do it for a little while. You want lukewarm food, not hot or cold.
Be sure that you don't do anything to upset the stitches. Don't use a straw or other things to suck stuff with, don't play musical instruments, don't open your mouth much, etc.
It was my first time ever having surgery, and it wasn't that bad.
Reply:I just had 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday, and there's nothing to worry about!! The only thing I was most scared of was getting the anaesthetic because I'd never been under it before. It was honestly, probably the best part. You're out within a couple of minutes. I didn't feel any pressure or anything, but I could hear distorted voices. It was almost like a whacky dream.
Swelling and pain depends on the person. I have little to no swelling and very, very slight pain. They will give you some Tylenol 3 afterwards to deal with the pain, but it's nothing really that bad. Bleeding will last a few hours, so just make sure to pad up with some gauze. I'm still not able to eat though, it hurts to open my mouth too wide and I'm afraid the stitches might come loose.
The only crappy part that I experienced was most of my face was frozen and numb, so I was drooling like a baby! LOL It took about 6+ hours for the numbness to go away, that was the worst!
Good luck, you'll be just fine
Reply:I had all 4 removed last month. I was very worried like you but it was a BREEZE! Within the first 24 hrs I had very mild pain. I didn't even need the antibiotics that were prescribed for me. I just used a cold ice pack which worked perfectly.
The only thing that is very annoying is all that blood gushing out, it makes you feel like you want to spit all the time. The weeks after were even better. I must fore warn you though...on the first night sleep with a towel or some sort of cloth instead of your pillow. Also the salt water rinse is very helpful in keeping out the bacteria.
