Wisdom teeth?

My wisdom tooth could be infected. Every time i touch my tongue to it i get a gross smell in my mouth. Also the middle of it doesn't look right. If left long enough, could this give you health problems and if so what? Is this tooth infected?

Wisdom teeth?
Yup, definitely sounds like your wisdom tooth is infected. The ''gross smell'' is because there is an infection there and most probably an abscess, caused due to an untreated cavity which became deep and went into the pulp/ or up to the nerves of your tooth. Go to a dentist and have it checked, he/she will prescribe antibiotics which u must take as prescribed, otherwise the infection spreads to your blood stream which is known as bacteremia, which is dangerous. And of course they will probably advise you for and extraction of the infected tooth. Don't delay, get those antibiotics into u as soon as possible.
Reply:sounds as though it may be tooth decay. best get it checked out as if it is it will only get worse
Reply:ewww......go to the dentist, of coarse it's infected...your teeth shouldn't smell, it's roiting away
Reply:It probably is infected. If you leave it in it could cause the infection to go into your blood stream and then you could die. It will also eventually cause you unbearable pain. You can go to a dentistry school and they take it out about 2/3 cheaper than a regular dentist.

good luck!
Reply:yes and see a dentist....
Reply:if it is infected.. you can actually die from it

(like that American black 5 year old boy who died from a tooth infection last week)

plus the infection will go into your gums and rut the rest of your good teeth.. dont mess with your health
Reply:A tooth infection is serious. It can lead to bacteria going to the brain and killing you. I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 18 and I have been ok since. You need to get them out ASAP. My ex just had his pulled out and his infection which was starting to spread, went away after he had them pulled out. You need to be on antibiotics in the meantime. Don't wait do it now! Take care.
Reply:it sounds like it. you need to go to the dentist and get it pulled. i had to get all 4 of mine taken out because there wasn't enough room in my mouth for them. it can give you problems, lead to infection and then your mouth will be sore and your mouth will get puffy around your wisdom tooth. and it will be sensitive to touch anything. you won't be able to eat right. go get it taken out.
Reply:Aaahhh (make that aarrrrgghhh), a subject 'near and dear to me' -f^ck!ng PAINful teeth...!!!!

.......You can have a Stroke as a result of having an abscessed tooth go unchecked!! (I'm dead serious!)

I ended up in the Hospital because I had 'Sepsis'! (My blood, and entire body was 'poisoned'...!) I was SSSSSOOOOOOO SICK!!!!! Had to get 'I.V.' antibiotics and took a ton of pills....! Never have I been so happy to 'lose a tooth'! (Got it 'pulled'.)

GO TO A DENTIST!!!!
Reply:I had a similar thing happen to me a while back. Along with the smell mine also tasted pretty bad, especially when I picked at it with my tounge. after a self examination with a toothpick and toothbrush, I found out a piece of food had somehow lodged itself back there. I used a toothpick to pry it out; in this paticular case the food was under a flap of my gums, turns out it was the food that was rotting, not my tooth. If I were you I would try to clean the area as best I could by brushing, then using some mouthwash. Then try to pick out what ever might be in there. If it turns out there is no food go to your dentist, see what they have to say. Usually your gums will be infected before your teeth, so keep brushing and I hope this helped out with your problem.
Reply:yes.. Get to your dentist QUICKLY !!
Reply:It's possible it may be infected, especially if it is painful. Tooth infections, if left untreated, could possibly travel to other organs, such as the brain, or down into the chest. I'd go see a dentist if ypu are concerned. Usually we get our wisdom teeth removed while still young. (I was supposed to get mine out when I was 18 but waited and had all sorts of problems with them. Well, finally they're gone and I feel much better.)
Reply:your teeth are right next to your brain . the infection could travel there next . go to the dentist now get antibiotics. after a course of those then get the offending tooth removed . i know a man that nearly waited too long . do not make the same mistake.
