Wisdom teeth?

my sister is breast feeding and she is gonna have her wisdom teeth pulled and she was wondering what pain meds they would give her so it wont hurt the baby

Wisdom teeth?
they will let her know. my guess would be tho, that it would be what they would give anyone. what i mean is that when i had my c-section with my son, who i nursed, they gave me percocet for pain management (and had given me morphine the night before) and i was still able to nurse. Percocet is often what they give you at the dentist but she can talk to them about that. I was also given ibuprofen and darvacet (i was allergic to percocet) and still nursed. I took the latter two for a few weeks.
Reply:It definately could, ask the doctor first.
Reply:mefenamic acid is quite safe a pain reliever for a breast-feeding mother
Reply:I was given Tylenol 4%26#039;s. She will just need to find out ahead of time to consult with her medical doctors.
Reply:Mefenamic acid does not transfeer from mother to child, and it is a medium to strong painkiller.
Reply:if its a simple extraction they probably won%26#039;t give her anything as she shouldn%26#039;t have too much discomfort. they may want to give her anti-biotics just in case there is any infection, but this is not a good idea of she is breast feeding. if it is a more complicated extraction, she will need to speak to her dentist before she goes to the appointment so that they can discuss what sort of meds to give her. hope this helps
