Wisdom teeth?

reccently i had all four of my wisdom teeth removed... i have had no pain at all and i have very very little swelling (only my gf could tell)... it is the 6th day and everything seemed as though it was going great (considering i had cheese coneys the first night and ate chips the second day)... but recently i looked in my mout at the stitches... all of the stitches were closed and were healing nicely execpt one... i have a gaping hole and i think that the stitching broke... has this ever happened to anybody and if so what do they dot o fix it...

please dont give a %26quot;go see a doctor answer%26quot; because i have an appointment on friday... i just want some other information

Wisdom teeth?
It could be a problem if there%26#039;s food caught in it. I%26#039;m glad you%26#039;re going to see the doc on Friday, so he or she can check it out for you.
Reply:There%26#039;s gonna be a hole there until it fills in with flesh. When I had mine out, the periodontist (or whatever) gave me this little syringy thing to squirt water in the hole to flush out the food particles and whatnot. I woundn%26#039;t worry about the hole but I would want the squirty thing. Ask your dentist for one.
Reply:Well you really should call the doctor%26#039;s office in the meantime. I had mine taken out a few moths ago, and all went well, the only suggestions I can make is to continue taking your antibiotics, and the doctor may give you this stuff to pack down the hole, I%26#039;m not sure what it%26#039;s called, but I will call my mom, and find out, then repost.
Reply:It sounds like broken stitches may be the case. As long as it isn%26#039;t giving you any discomfort, I would recommend that you just keep it clean and rinse the area often with warm salt-water (1 TBS salt to 1 C water) 4-5 times a day.
Reply:When i had my wisdom teeth removed I had no stitches because they were already fully in and there was no need to cut or go really deep into the gums. Are you sure that you had stitches for all of your teeth?

Is the open hole sore or more swollen then the others? If it is you need to see the doc today not friday...trust me you don%26#039;t want an infection to set in.
Reply:when i had all of my wisdom teeth removed all my stitches fell out the nest day...it will close up on its own!
Reply:when ever a tooth is pulled (especially one with long roots) you need to be very careful of dry socket. Make sure that there is a clot of blood in the opening to prevent this. I don%26#039;t think that the stitch being gone is of much concern especially when you are to see your dentist soon. Good luck
Reply:I used guaze(just ball it up and put it back there, change it every 4 hours) to help it keep from bleeding and to help it clot correctly
Reply:Stitches will pull when the gum starts to heal. Sometimes they will break. As long as you are not having any pain, swelling or tenderness in the stitch area, you should be just fine.

I recently had dental surgery that required stitches. My gum healed quickly and so tightly, that the stitch broke and I pulled it out myself. I just kept the area clean with brushing and rinsing before seeing my dentist for the follow-up. Everything worked out just fine.
Reply:I would just keep a close eye on it. Make sure it stay clean and i would avoid using a straw. One thing you absolutely don%26#039;t want is dry socket. Just keep it clean and show the dentist. They%26#039;re the ones who would know what to do.
Reply:If you are keeping it clean, you will probably be okay. It was probably the stuff you ate that caused the breakage...that is why they tell you to go easy for a while!

Glad you had no pain!
Reply:Mine looked like gapping holes forever after I got them done and the stitches were taken out. It was gross. I think you should be ok. just keep it clean and be very careful what you eat till you see your doctor. If it is expossed then you run a chance of Dry socket, and that (from which my husband tells me) is the most painfull thing that could happen.

So lay off the chips and crap untill you can get into the doctor.
Reply:You are doing all you can do until your appointment. Your doctor should have informed you to eat only soft foods and avoid using a straw in the first several days after your surgery. YOu probably broke your stitches by not following those guidelines. You make have to have an antibiotic to help keep down any infection and have new stitches.
Reply:I had dry socket, and it hurts like hell. That doesn%26#039;t sound like dry socket to me.

You%26#039;re really doing all you can do right now by rinsing your mouth with salt water and keeping it clean. The dr. can tell you more on Friday.

I had all four of mine taken out at once also. Only had one case of dry socket thankfully.
Reply:Did the dentist offer you post operative instructions? Cheese coneys and chips are not recommendid because they could have dislodged the blood clots from the surgical sites.
