Getting all wisdom teeth pulled. How long is period of recovery. Will I be able to eat in a week? How much pain will I be in? Also one of my 3rd molar is head to head and doesn%26#039;t know if it will be extracted b/c it is attached to a main nerve. Anyoen heard of this?
Wisdom teeth?
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed at the same time going on two years ago now... They should put you out with a local anesthetic so you shouldn%26#039;t feel a thing..i slept in the chair in my living room for the first couple days that way i wouldn%26#039;t drool on myself because they also numbed my whole mouth. It took a couple days for the numbness medication to wear off and thats the period i just ate apple sauce..i ate things like chicken and noodles the next few days and then by the following monday which was 4 days later ( i had my surgery done on a friday) i was eating a hamburger and french fries from braums...I also didn%26#039;t need the pain meds they gave me i just took 4 ibuprofen every so often if i felt a little pain and that helped...it wasn%26#039;t too uncomfortable or unbearable..and by a week later my stiches had fallen out and i was eating like normal..just got to be careful for first month or so not to suck on a straw or drink nething out of straws and slirp spaghettin and noodles things like that and you might have to chew using your front teeth for a while but depending on when your comfortable and your dentists says you can be back to eating regular foods a week or month.
Reply:The pain isn%26#039;t bad if you stay on painkillers. For me, the first day I stuck to eating small things like pudding and jello, even a little bit of soup. I think by about the third or fourth day I could eat kind of solid food. The period of recovery back to completely solid foods is about a week. I%26#039;m not sure about your 3rd molar.
Reply:If they have to be cut out you will be in a moderate pain for a week- week in a half...if they need to be pulled like me i hade no pain, could eat in a week...and mainly just spitting blood every 10 min during the first three days. Good luck its not as bad as everyone says...i was terrified and it turned out to be a breeze.
Reply:You will be a little uncomfortabe for a couple of day. It is not as bad as everyone say.
Reply:I went to an oral surgeon (all of my wisdom teeth were still below the gum line when they were extracted). I was also put out when they were removed. I was in pain for maybe two days, then everything got better.
Just make sure to keep the sockets wet after the extraction (there is a risk for dry socket; which is usually obtained from people using straws or keeping their mouth open afterwards).
