my husband thinks his wisdom teeth are comming in and the dentist can get him in for a couple of days... is there anything that he can take to reduce the pain... extra stranght ibeprofine isn%26#039;t helping...
Wisdom teeth?
Have you tried orajel or eating lots of ice cream?
Reply:eating/drinking alot of cold foods, keep taking the extra strength ibuprofen and bearing with it. If he does get them out it%26#039;ll hurt like heck for a couple days but the pain will be gone. I had mine taken out a couple months ago and before that it was a painful nudging every couple weeks and I had horrible breath. Just tell him to hang in there, hope he feels better.
Reply:Aww, so sorry to hear about your husband, teeth can be awful!.
There is this solution called Xylocaine Viscous, and it is the same medication they use to numb your gums before any dental procedure. It is fabulous at numbing the pain. In Canada, you don%26#039;t need a doctor%26#039;s prescription, you can buy it over the counter, but i don%26#039;t know if it%26#039;s the same in the U.S. The best thing to do is ask your pharmacist whether a prescription is needed.
Hope he feels better soon.
Reply:thing with those bad boys is that it also depends on how they are positioned. mine were not just coming out, but they were laying on their backs if you can imagine that. which made the pain unbearable. i had to deal with mine for a couple of years and i noticed that the pain comes in cycles due to them pushing forward (growing). maybe his doc can prescribe something with just a little more strength if your hubbie is not able to deal with it. but the truth is that at least in my experience, the pain went away after a few days.
if he gets to his dentist tell him to get as many of them out as he can at once. i made the mistake in getting two taken out the first time. it hurt so much that i waited another 4 years before going back. just tell him to get them all done at once if they are all showing.
