Wisdom teeth?

I got my left wisdom teeth pulled on monday, and now my mouth hurts too much to eat. The dentist said to not use a straw at all because the suction could rip out the blood clots. All I%26#039;ve eaten in the last 48 hours was a cup of tomato soup. Any other ideas on what I can eat? I%26#039;M STARVING

Wisdom teeth?
You need to get your mouth open to reduce the soreness and help you regain full function of your mouth so you can eat. Take two damp towels and heat them in the microwave, you want them hot, but no so hot as to burn your face. Place the hot compress on each side of your face (both sides even though it was only one tooth, both jaw muscles had a work out by having to hold open) letting the heat soothe the muscles, then gently open and close your mouth several times stretching wider each time you open, exercising the jaw area. This exercise can be done several times a day along with warm salt water rinses, the warmer you can do it the better. The key to healing is to reduce the soreness by getting the muscles relaxed from the surgery. After you get the soreness reduced, you can start to slowly return to your normal diet just using caution with hard, sharp or crunchy foods that could jab the extraction site causing trauma. If you still have difficulty stay with eggs, pasta, hearty soups and stews for a few days, you%26#039;ll be back to normal soon. Do the exercises though, you will be amazed at the relief you will feel. Good luck with your healing!
Reply:Oh. So sorry. Maybe some Ramen noodles; soup, mostly.
Reply:Cream of wheat, oatmeal, apple sauce, baby food.
Reply:mac %26amp; cheese, soft pastas, eggs. Hope you feel better.
Reply:Hope this site is helpful. I had mine removed years ago but since it was so long ago, i can%26#039;t remember what I did eat. I sure do remember the pain though.

Reply:I ate whatever I wanted, just put it through a food processor!
Reply:I know how you feel. I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was a senior in high school. I remember eating soft foods and small bites of everything else. You need to keep moving your jaw. It will take some time.
Reply:Mashed potatoes - the warmness helps with the soreness.

Milk/ chocolate milk - the protein will help fill your tummy.

The soreness should begin to get better now. If the pain continues to get worse you need to contact your dentist b/c the clot could have come out and you may have developed a dry socket.
Reply:I ate lots of pudding, ice cream, mashed up bananas, soups, and macaroni %26amp; cheese. I also drank health shakes from the grocery store. These contain lots of vitamins and nutrients so it is very healthy for you. Definitely don%26#039;t use a straw! I ended up getting a dry socket and it is very painful.
Reply:lol cool i got all 4 of mine out on monday lol my mouth is fine lol

any way if it is hurting that bad u may have a dry socket i would phone ur dentist and tell them about it, but if its not try eating other kinds of soup, blend food up with a bit of water (looks gross but tastes so good when u cant eat anything else) u could try eating/drinking some ensure or other nutrition drink that way u are getting good nutrients that will help in the healing process

good luck and it may be sore for a week a two im told its normal - though i can already go with out painkillers well since tuesday night lol though once or twice i have taken some only cause i kept opening my mouth up to wide causing it to hurt lol
