Wisdom teeth?

Does anyone have any helpful tips for someone about to have their wisdom teeth removed? I am terrified of Dentist and shoots and well, the whole thing... so any encouraging words would be nice!

Wisdom teeth?
I had them knock me completely out, I didn%26#039;t want to even see the doctor doing anything, but you have to have someone there to drive you home, and you%26#039;re pretty groggy afterwards.....good luck, it%26#039;s really not too bad.
Reply:Honestly, the best advice is relax.

Yes, the shot sucks a bit, but it%26#039;s only a couple seconds of a pinch, and then you are completely numb!!! You will not feel a thing after the pinch...I promise!
Reply:don%26#039;t be terrified...it is going to be ok...you won%26#039;t feel any pain...you will feel that the doctor is doing something there..but certanly no pain...good luck! and yes...relax ;)
Reply:Just relax..I was SO nervous the day before i got all my wisdom teeth pulled and once everything was over, it was no big deal...just make sure you%26#039;re heavily medicated when the novacaine wears off because that first night it is going to painful, but the next day you%26#039;ll feel 100% better and should be back to your regular activities after about 5-7 days..but you will be fine! :)
Reply:I had 4 out last week. They knocked me out and I didn%26#039;t feel a thing. I woke up groggy and just feels like you%26#039;re drunk, lol. If you%26#039;re going to be awake, bring a mp3 player. I%26#039;m sure they provide music but this way you can listen to what you like. =). Ask your doc if you can take the meds before the numbing wears off. I though I was going to be fine and didn%26#039;t go get the prescription filled. Bad idea. I wad double over in pain. Take it before it wears off and you should be fine. Swelling should peak at day 3 or 4 and go down after that. Pain can last up to 2 weeks for some ppl. Mines lasted a week. Keep it clean by rinsing often or using the syringe to prevent infection. Follow the instructions they give. Just take it easy for about a week or so. You%26#039;ll feel much better after taking it out. I breathed a sigh of relief that I had it done and now it%26#039;s over. Good luck!
Reply:I got mine removed Thursday morning and it is now Friday night. I was tripping about it at first, but the night before the morning of the surgery, I was more calm than before. I got there, they told me to lay down, they put things on your fingers to measure your heart rate and everything. The doctor walks in, puts a brace on your arm so you can%26#039;t bend it, and than puts the shot of IV in you. You feel the iv going through your arm, next thing you know, you wake up and the nurse says, all done. Your going to feel drunk/groggy. I went home, my dad went to go get my presciption filled and get Jamba juice for me. I took the vicodin, and fell asleep, woke up around 4 hours later. I felt great with no pain and decided to go to drive to football practice. I was perfectly fine, halfway through the practice, the pain started coming in hard though. It wasn%26#039;t unbearable, but it was constant. As soon as I got home, I took another vicodin and was feeling no pain within 45 minutes. The bleeding stopped before I went to practice. I woke up Friday morning, feeling slight pain, but the vicodin took care of that. Went to school, was fine, and than went to practice again, and was fine. I was able to eat pizza for lunch, and chicken nuggets for dinner, although it was a challenge chewing with your front teeth.

Long story short, it%26#039;s not a big deal. Just go in telling yourself that your not going to be a puss. The after effects are annoying, but its not horrendous, I%26#039;ve gone through worst experiences. Good luck.
