anyone who has had their wisdom teeth extracted....what are some common signs that it%26#039;s time to get them pulled out.....i%26#039;m age 18, and i%26#039;ve recently been having some slight pain and fever towards my jaw.....should i get it checked?
Wisdom teeth?
If you are not going to be 7 to 8 feet tall I would do away with them. My lowers were not pulled and one is chipping out. My jaw is not properly aligned either so don%26#039;t wait for trouble. Ask your dentist first anyway.
Reply:Yes, I had one that didn%26#039;t surface because it was what they called bony impacted. I ended up getting it cut out. It had gathered an infection beneath the surface. I had a swollen jaw and fever. They treated me with antibiotics first and the next week, they cut them all out to prevent the others from doing the same. Just go ahead and let them get rid of them, you%26#039;ll be glad you did.
Reply:You%26#039;re a little young to have wisdom teeth. But, yes get it checked.
Reply:Yeah. I got mine pulled when I was 16. The average age to get them pulled (so my dentist says) is 18.
Good luck! :)
Reply:YES GET IT CHECK AND THEM IF THE DENTIST TELL YOU IS NOTHING YOU DON%26#039;T HAVE TO WARRED
Reply:Go to the dentist to get a panoramic radiograph. It is an x-ray of the lower part of your face and it is the best diagnostic tool for wisdom teeth. Most dental offices have a panoramic x-ray machine. Your dentist will inform you.
My wisdom teeth were impacted. I had them removed surgically at an oral surgeon%26#039;s office. It was pain free with no complications.
Reply:Definitely get them checked. The problems with those teeth is they are impossible to clean and develop bad cavities that can collapse the tooth and/or become infected. When they grow out they might grow too long and push against the jaw. I had a combination of both.
They hurt to get pulled. More after the event than during and now there is a space in my mouth that I have to check to see if stuff gets caught, or I might end up with roting food in my mouth after a few days.
In general it is worth getting them out. Asleep if you can afford it, but awake like I had, isn%26#039;t that bad. There isn%26#039;t too much pain either way during the operation. You can%26#039;t feel anything in your jaw for hours afterwards from the awake procedure. It is after the initial medication wears off that gets people.
Reply:Absolutely yes. Have your dentist checked it right away. You already have the signs.
Reply:u should get it checked out B4 it gets worse
Reply:Yes have them checked. 9/10 people need to have them out. 18 is the ideal time to have them out. Fever is not good, means you have an infection in the area. Don%26#039;t let it get worse.
Reply:It is recommended to have wisdom teeth removed by age 25 at the latest. Wisdom teeth can cause problems with dental crowding, occlusion (bite), gum disease, and even disfiguring cysts in the jaws.
You should your general dentist for an exam and a referral to an oral surgeon to get the teeth removed.
