My wisdom teeth are growing in right now. Should I get them pulled as soon as possible or wait until they grow in? Which would be less painful?
Wisdom Teeth?
I just got mine out recently and I waited a long time, until they came in completely. My dentist kept telling me to get them out as soon as I could but I never did until later because of money and time. I hear its a lot better to get them out as soon as you can because its easier to pull them out when the root hasn't been developed. As gross as this sounds, I think it takes more time and yanking for the dentist when the root has grown in already. I also got infections in these teeth before I got them out because it was hard to keep them clean and that really hurt. But, nevertheless, when I finally got mine out it really wasn't bad at all. I only took vicodine right after the surgery and but after that with the days that followed, I only needed tylenol. So all in all, I think it would be easier on you and your dentist to get them out as soon as you can, but if not, its no big deal. ( I actually really liked the way I felt after I woke up from the surgery!:D I felt so completely relaxed and peaceful and I actually was pretty lucid. I went home and drifted in and out of sleep the rest of the day and it was really nice :)
Reply:I had mine pulled just after they came in. It's uncomfortable either way, but medication should help your discomfort.
Reply:Well, when I had my wisdom's pulled, 2 of them were impacted and the other 2 had grown in about half way. They all healed up about the same and the pain wasn't that bad. I think that it really depends on your surgeon. And make sure that you do everything that they tell you. Trust me, it will help you heal faster with minimal pain! I didn't even take the Vikadin (sp?) that they gave me and I had no swelling or bruising.
If you had braces, I would get them pulled as soon as possible so that they don't make all your teeth move like they did mine. I had braces and I waited too long to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and my teeth are crooked again! Don't risk your teeth getting all jacked up, get it done soon!
Good Luck!
Reply:Not everyone needs them pulled. Has a dentist told you they need pulled?
Reply:Wait till they grow in. Then it would be less painfull. They might cut ur gums if they hae not grown in all the way. Or some will tell u wait till they grow in.
Reply:If there's room in your mouth for your wisdom teeth, let them come in. If not, you'll experience crowding of your current teeth and I'm sure more pain as well.
What does your dentist suggest?
Reply:Why do you want to have them pulled at all? If they are healthy, keep them.
Reply:get them pulled now
Reply:I had mine taken out before they even came through the gums. The dentist said it is less painfull if you get them before they grow in.
Reply:You have to take it fast, also take in consideration where is located that wisdom tooth, because if it is close to the alveolar nerve and if you leave it the way they are, you can have a complication.
Also take in consideration to go to a Maxilo Facial, those doctors are specialized in that.
The pain will be the same, but try to avoid some complication.
If you hurt the alveolar nerve, you maybe can loss the sensivity of the have of the mouth and the chin, but it temporary (starting from 6 months). That is called a Paresthaesia.
So ask your doctor what to do, but i recommend you to finish as soon as possible to avoid complications and the teeth movement.
Good Luck
