Wisdom teeth?

Recently I have been having pain on the left side of my mouth in the wisdom tooth. Now, it might just be the pain of them erupting, but they really already did that early last year...both of the lower ones. i don't know why one has decided to hurt again. The gum tissue that is left over on top of it is tender and its to the point now where orajel doesn't even work. I can't eat well and it even hurts to open my mouth and sneeze or do whatever. Should I just get it pulled? I also have braces so I don't want them interefering with each other.

Wisdom teeth?
If there's gum tissue covering even a portion of the tooth, it is not fully erupted, and this is what's causing your pain - the tooth is trying to grow the rest of the way in.

I would recommend making an appointment with your dentist. It may be that the tooth is too large for your mouth (a problem with about 80% of people). It may need to be removed before it does permanent damage to the surrounding jaw or adjacent teeth...but only your dentist can tell you for sure.
Reply:Wisdom teeth problems

The four wisdom teeth, those farthest back in both the upper and lower jaw, usually erupt between the age of 17 and 21, sometimes as late as 25, and occasionally not at all. Non-emergence is not normally a problem because there are no symptoms.

A wisdom tooth which emerges at an angle to its neighbour can trap food, which then causes gum infection and a nasty taste in the mouth. More seriously, a wisdom tooth may become impacted, unable to emerge because the tooth next to it is in the way; this causes a pocket in the gum in which food tends to accumulate, leading to pericoronitis (infection and swelling of the gum, an unpleasant taste, and pain when biting).

In most cases, an impacted wisdom tooth is treated by giving paracetamol and antibiotics to reduce pain and infection, then by extraction under general anaesthetic. For appropriate homeopathic remedies, see Toothache or select a remedy from the list following.

Specific remedies to be taken every 6 hours for up to 3 days until dental appointment can be made

Shootimg, piercing pains made worse by cold air, food, or noise Calcarea 30c

Where left upper molars are most affected, with warm sensation in jaw Fluoric ac. 30c

Pain from erupting wisdom tooth, worse at night, forcing person to get up and walk about Magnesia carb. 30c

Self-help To prevent infection, rinse mouth 4 times daily with a solution of Hypericum and Calendula (5 drops of mother tincture of each to 0.25 litre [1/2 pint] boiled cooled water) or with salt solution (1 teaspoon salt to 0.25 litre [1/2 pint]).

I would see your Dentist!
Reply:I am not 100% sure about this, but the only way to get your wisdom teeth removed would be to remove your braces first...and then you'd have to get your braces put back on...and that'll cost you....
Reply:i had that problem before I had them taken out.....

my mom's dentist had told her that the wisdom teeth kind of go up and down...come out then go back in. don't know how true that is but it sure seems like it because every once in a while they would hurt like hell.

most likely it's because bacteria has accumalated behind the tooth....take some floss and floss between the wisdom tooth (behind it) and the gum (careful, it'll be yucky). then go see your dentist.
Reply:Before I got them extracted the ones on my left side would hurt me from time to time as well for a few days then the pain would go away. I would give it a few more days but if they continue giving you pain I would have them checked out for sure.
Reply:I had to get all 4 of my removed a few years ago. I had infections, and stomach aches and everything, teeth have an effect of how healthy you feel. Infection go to your stomach which causes alot of sickness. headaches also are sometimes caused by teeth hurting. I let my go so long i had fevers, sores on my mouth and everything, it was a way for my body to say something was wrong, I went to the dentist and my wisdom were growing for the main root in my jaw, it was painful i had problems with all four and had to get them removed. I had to wait though for any dental work could be done cause i had so much infection from those wisdom teeth that had to be cleared up first then i ended up with a small infection a few days after they came out cause food tends to get caught up in there so liquid diet is better for a few days really. I really think if u are having problems let the dentist know, you may need to have them removed before more serious things happen, like the fevers, and sores, and just the whole painfully thing.
