I know this type of question has been posted #@!%!@#% times..
But i just thought there might be new'er answers or updated answers.
I went to the dentist yesterday to have mine checked. Photo'ed.
There's four of them showing.
Two below's growing the WRONG way.
Two above's OK i guess.
But the pain is one of the teeth above.
How do people get over it?!?! I mean, when i eat, it HURTS so much that i can't even finish my food.
I tried pain killers, but its not helping at all.
any suggestions that i can do?!?!
THANKS .!!
Wisdom Teeth?
Get them pulled immediately. Don't wait any longer if your in that much pain. Or at least get the one that is hurting pulled, but it is easier to have all four pulled in one operation. If painkillers (vicodin or percocet) didn't help then you really need to have them out now.
Reply:My impacted ones (growing sideways) were eventually giving me head, jaw, and ear aches. As soon as I got them out, the pain went away. Until the removal date, Ibuprofen helped me. =)
Reply:Your case is the same as that of the million people around the world. Your wisdom teeth growing sideways or more commonly known as "Impacted Wisdom Teeth" abrupts nerves surrounding your gums. That's what causes the pain.
The only treatment you can have is to go to a licensed Oral Surgeon.
The Oral Surgeon may ask you to have X-rays for your teeth. That would show how your wisdom teeth grow and the difficulty of removing it.
Impacted Wisdom teeth cannot just be pulled out. Pulling it out may cause temporary or worst, permanent numbness of your jaw, chin and lips; depending on how severe the nerve damage are.
You would have to undergo a surgical removal procedure of those impacted teeth called Odontectomy.
Goodluck to you.
BTW,
when I had my impacted teeth surgically removed, I was not able to eat anything solid for like 4 days. Only thing I ate was ice cream, jello or shakes. And I have that chipmunk-face for a week.
So if you are working, you would have to leave work for like 2-3 weeks.
Reply:Have them removed. The two growing the wrong way can cause pressure on the other teeth and result in them moving and causing problems in your bite. If you don't have the uppers also removed they will drop to fill up the space below and cause more trouble. Having them removed is not that bad. I had 2 below that had to be sectioned and cut out and I took pain pills that night and when on a trip the next day.
Reply:OK, I'm really scared to get mine removed, but I asked one of my science teachers, she told me that getting it out earlier is always better. She was really honest and told me that it would be painful, it's gonna hurt, but nearly everyone has to get over it. So, get them out quickly, the earier the better. Good Luck!
